Mission of Mississippi Senior Olympics

Mission of Mississippi Senior Olympics

The MSO is a nonprofit corporation which provides a quality competitive athletic experience for adults 50 years of age and older. This annual event offers our seniors an opportunity to participate in athletic events that will enhance their  quality of life and result in a healthy lifestyle throughout their lifetime. The games also offer a social network for participants to develop friendships and share in the athletic experience with others who have adopted a healthy lifestyle.

MSO is a qualifying event for the 2017 National Senior Games to be held in Birmingham, AL.  We are an "Open" state which allows seniors 50+ from other states to compete in our games.

The objectives of the Mississippi Senior Olympic program are:

  • To educate the citizens of Mississippi and the nation of the importance and potential of experiencing good health throughout their lifetime.
  • To provide quality, competitive athletic experiences for older adults.
  • To improve the quantity and quality of health-related programs for older adults.
  • To provide an opportunity for community organizations to work cooperatively in the provision of a Senior Olympics program.
  • To establish a year round educational program on health and wellness for mature adults through clinics, workshops, written materials and supportive resources.
  • And, to establish a statewide network of local and state level State Games.
