Senior Olympics' Iron Magnolia has passed
Longtime supporter, participant and board member Lucy Bickham has died. She was 91.
Lucy, who most recently served as the activities coordinator for the Mississippi Senior Olympics until her passing, was involved with the organization for decades. She is attributed with coordinating many of the senior games, and participating in numerous local, state and national senior games/Olympics programs.
As a participant, Lucy received bronze medals in shuffleboard at the National Senior Olympics in Baton Rouge, La. and Louisville, Ky. She also participated in the National games in Syracuse N.Y., San Antonio, Texas and Birmingham, Ala.
In 2012, Lucy's athletic accomplishments were recognized with the induction to the Mississippi Senior Olympics Hall of Fame.
Lucy Bickham was an integral part of the Mississippi Senior Games and is credited as one of the driving forces to making these games possible. She will deeply be missed.
